ProMotive Oil Filters by Purolator

ProMotive oil filters are engineered and designed by Purolator with manufacturing located in Fayetteville, NC. Purolator is the inventor of the first engine oil filter in 1923, and also the first automotive aftermarket manufacturer to launch size standardizations for existing and new applications. Beginning with the first block mounted full flow spin-on filter, Purolator continues to add both new spin-on and cartridge oil filters to ensure coverage for 98% of the vehicles on the road. ProMotive oil filters feature a synthetic blend media for improved performance over yesterday's filters.

Leading Innovation
Some ProMotive oil filters are a different size than the filter you are removing from the vehicle. This can size reduction is part of an industry trend in size standardization that the Original Equipment manufacturers have begun to implement.

Through extensive research and testing, we found that certain oil filters will work on additional applications than originally marketed. This smaller filter size and improved media offer the same performance of the larger filter being replaced. This means fewer part numbers with additional coverage, simplification of the oil filter line, and reduced inventory - which all lead to cost savings for you, our customer.

The ProMotive oil filter line presents the opportunity of reduced inventory carrying needs, increased vehicle coverage and reduced outbound freight by:

  • Consolidating 6 part numbers
  • Reducing diameters on 1 part number
  • Improving vehicle coverage to 98%
  • Increasing the pallet quantity on 8 part numbers

ProMotive oil filters offer the security of the Purolator brand name that has been valued for decades and are backed by our manufacturers' warranty.

OE Trend

The latest trends have called for oil filters with smaller diameters
and reduced height that still meet the desired fit and function.

Recent applications where the vehicle manufacturers have downsized can sizes include:

  • Honda 80mm 15400P0H305 (20mm threads) replaced with smaller 65mm 15400PLMA01 (20mm threads)
  • GM PF52 (18mm threads) replaced with smaller PF48 (22mm threads) for new applications
  • Ford FL1A (3/4 threads) replaced with smaller FL820S (22mm threads) for new applications
